Hey!
Well I figured since I have had Live Journal for awhile now it was time to write something, so here it is:
Well my name is Kayla, I am 18 years old and I live in Canada. I LOVE broadway!! I have never had an obsession quiet like it, and never thought I would have one, especially with broadway, but alas I could not resist the charms of it :) I am quiet a recent obsessor of broadway, as I only first discovered it (really...) about a year ago. My mom and I had been planning a trip to New York for my graduation present from High School for a couple of years, we first started making our plans around August before grade 12 started. We only made the essential plans really, like hotel and plane tickets. It wasn't until March that I really decided that I wanted to go see some Broadway shows, and the first one that my mom bought me tickets for was Wicked. I had never heard of it so I looked it up on youtube and fell in love with it so quickly! The first video I watched was of Kristin Chenoweth singing popular in a proshot video clip with Idina Menzel. The rest of that night I spent looking up more videos and quickly became intriugued with Kristin, so I looked up more videos of her and eventually I went through every video on youtube that had her in it! haha (ya i had a lot of spare time) Anyways, as my obsession grew for Kristin as well as Wicked I began to discover other shows and actresses/actors that I quickly fell in love with too! I began to make a list of shows that I wanted to see. My list quickly reached over 10 shows (after discovering that a lot of shows that I did want to see weren't on broadway anymore) I knew I wouldn't be allowed to see 10 shows so I condensed my list, this list included Wicked (seeing as we already had tickets) as well as Rent, Legally Blonde, Spring Awakening, and the show that my mom wanted to see The Color Purple (I had no interest in seeing this especailly since i am not a Fantasia fan, but my really wanted to, so I didn't mind). I continued looking online and discoved Stephanie J Block and then I found out that she was currently in a show we hadn't actually bought our tickets for Spring Awakening so I decided that I wanted to see The Pirate Queen and as luck would have it, I found tickets for 30$ front row(ish) how could I resist. So we bought these. Two weeks before we left I found out that the show was closing, I was so sad. My mom decided to surprise me with tickets to Spring Awakening.
Alright I will just give a quick recap of my trip... AMAZING! haha Spring Awakening was the first show that I went to on July 3, 2007 and it was a great first show experience. The next day we went to the July 4th fireworks. On July 5th we went to the matinee of wicked and the evening show of Rent, the next day was Legally Blonde and out last night there was The Color Purple. We stage doored for every show, it was such an amazing experience. This was such an increble trip, I have enver had more fun and have been begging my mom to take me back since we came home! haha We are planning our second trip for the Spring of 2008!
Anyways.... that was how my obsession grew and I just thought I would share this experience with you. I hope I didn't bore you too much and if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask.
